With the advent of Android based smartphones in 2009, the Apple iPhone is no longer alone in providing internet based applications (apps) to cellphone users.  Many Android users prefer the openness of the platform, and although there are presently fewer apps for Android based cellphones, I find that the ones I want are readily available.  On these pages we review Android based smartphones with a focus on classes of applications that are available for such phones.
